These remains were found in Greece, providing proof that politicians have always been the same…

In the last 6 months there have been three riots or violent acts committed under the shield of “non violence” or “empowerment”.
I’m sick of it.
I’m tired of hearing people call for “sanctuary” for illegal aliens or military deserters.
In all fairness the “mainstream” Olympia activist community has done a pretty decent job of being non violent. But there are enough wing nuts in Olympia (and now they are coming here from other places!) to cause problems. Add this to an unwillingness of the City to really crack down on violent protesters, it is a recipe for disaster.
Me, I’m just buying more ammo, and hoping Olympia doesn’t have a major disaster before I get the centerboard replaced in my sailboat. When Oly goes, I want to be en route to Whidbey Island, not trying to get the heck out of here. Olympia is a powderkeg, and someone lit the fuse on May Day.
All of a sudden I have users! Woohoo! Folks, I appreciate people coming here and using what I have made available. I hadn’t originally planned on this, it kinda just happened. I know a few folks drifted over here from another blog site and have had problems with the admin over there. Just a few quick reminders. Not everyone reading this website is from Olympia, or uses Olyblog. Please no attacks or charges against Olyblog admin, or admin of other sites for that matter. This is not the place for that, I really need this website to be open to anyone on the net wandering by.
While the current status of most users allows them to put original content anywhere on this website, I really need a little cooperation on one issue. The front welcome page, the section “My Blog” and the “Vermin of the Week” section are mine. I don’t think the software will allow me to limit other users putting content on certain pages. I am more than happy to host any content you would like to put up that falls within the minimal rules I put up on the forum page, just please put it in either the local section, guns, or forum. Wordpress tools are a bit confusing, so I’m not really tripping on this one.
Also, when quoting an article from another source, please just quote the first paragraph or two, provide a link back to the original source, and publicly attribute where the article came from. Anything else may be copyright infringement. If you care to include your opinion on the subject matter, go right ahead. I appreciate cooperation on this matter.
Like I’ve said elsewhere, very few rules. PG language, no direct attacks, racial slurs, attacks on religion, or anti gun articles. If something annoys me enough to take it down, I will let you know why. I won’t waste my time emailing folks if I have to edit language. If you use a four letter word, and I change it to something else, don’t stress it.
These are how things are, after all this is “Steve’s Blog”
So pull up a keyboard, and make yourself at home. The rules are few and far between and pretty open for folks. Thanks for your cooperation!
Been too busy lately to post much. Today we South Sounders suffered under rain, hail, wind, snow and the occasional five minute burst of sunshine. Gotta love this part of Washington State huh?
If the two Democrats keep fighting at each other, they are liable to let McCain waltz right into office. Not that he is much better IMHO, but he is the lesser of weasels.
I arranged a ride along with Olympia Police Department for May 5. Strangely enough, they are asking that I not even wear my sidearm and check it in before the ride. This confuses the heck out of me. I can understand them not wanting someone not a cop packing heat in one of their cars, but state law allows for (requires actually) a place to secure a firearm while engaged in certain business with the police. OPD can’t tell me not to wear my sidearm and check it in, but they sure have suggested strongly I don’t. Very very odd. I’ll get to the bottom of it though.
Hopefully I’ll get some more time soon to put up some in depth writing and pictures. To my handful of readers, thanks for reading and for your patience.
How many people think illegal aliens, oops I’m sorry undocumented immigrants should be left alone? They pay taxes right? Sure if they are working illegally for an employer that keeps that much bookwork. I spent enough time in SoCal to be very familiar with scenes outside of home improvement stores. Illegals standing outside looking for work, some with crude hand lettered signs on battered vehicles advertising the work they did and the “quality” of it. There is a reason the construction trades are regulated. I wouldn’t hire an illegal outside of Home Depot any more readily than I would hire Billy Bob’s Honest Drywall, Painting and Finish Carpintry. Tacky is tacky.
Yet there are soft hearted (and headed?) liberals who get all sad eyed and decry the plight of the illegal alien, trespassing in our country “just trying to make some money”. This is a bit tough for me, because after all poverty is a horrible thing. But when all this illegals swarm across our borders, use our social services and suck up tax dollars so they can underbid and undercut US workers, then it becomes an invasion. If things are so bad in Mexico they must take some responsibility to change things. If they are unchangeable, I say spend a little more money on them and as they are deported, hand them an M-16, an hour of training and 500 rounds to go change things in Mexico with.
It is one thing to have guest workers. It is another to have the abuse of America’s generosity and hospitality that we are seeing now. We must penalize companies that knowingly hire illegal workers, and start deporting all the illegals that are found.
If you wish to enter this country, enter it legally. There was a time when borders were open and all were welcome. Things have changed and immigration must be controlled. Enter the legal way and be welcome. Enter illegally, get deported and forever loose your shot at coming over here.
I carry a gun. Sometimes I carry concealed, and sometimes I openly carry my sidearm. Needless to say I have a concealed pistol permit for when I choose to hide my gun. Open Carry without a permit is legal in the State of Washington, with a couple of small exceptions.
One reader who uses Olyblog expressed some misunderstanding when I stated I hope to never have to kill someone.
I never, ever want to use my weapon to shoot someone else with. But I would rather have that option than fall victim to a violent crime or be unable to prevent an innocent third party from being killed maimed or raped.
Most folks who carry a sidearm are aware of the awesome responsibility that comes with the carrying of weapons, and are not out looking for trouble or hoping for a fight. Rather we go out of our way to avoid both. But when we have no choice, we hope the presence of the weapon is sufficient, but are willing to go all the way and pull the trigger to protect ourselves or someone else.
I would rather live with killing in lawful defense than failing to do so and seeing myself or someone else killed or maimed in a violent attack.
A violent criminal who has expressed intent to kill or commit grave bodily harm has given up their rights. Your right or someone else’s as an innocent victim supersede any of the criminal. I never ever wish to be in that situation to have to make those kind of choices. But if that horrible weight should fall upon my shoulders, then I wish only for the strength to make the correct call.
Welcome to my blog! I’ll write on any topic dear to my heart. Local Olympia, WA issues, guns, boats, outdoor survival, whatever crosses my mind. Plus I have a few areas that will be updated regularly. Click on the categories above to see what is new.
A big shout out to the folks who invested so much time and effort to build this page for me. ZX Devlopment, LLC and TYZ Design! Both are local Olympia firms, and put out some of the finest web design you can find out there. ZX Development does all the backend work, and TYZ does the graphics and frontend. Together they are an unbeatable combination.
